What kinds of programs does the Autism Society San Diego have?

Recreational Programs

  • Surf Camp: 1:1 ratio summer camp for members of Autism Society San Diego, great for teaching water safety and surfing for ages 5+. 
  • Camp I CAN: 1:1 ratio summer camp for members of Autism Society San Diego, held at the YMCA and includes water activities and outings
  • AWARE (Adults with Autism Recreation Experience) Camp: 1:1 ratio Summer camp for members of Autism Society San Diego, for ages 18+ and incorporates outings each day
  • Aquatics Programs: 12 Swim Lessons for $240 or $20/class. For members of Autism Society, you can put your child through adaptive swim lessons for a significantly discounted rate thanks to our scholarship program with Aquapros.

Social Programs

  • AWARE Dance: The dance was created to allow a fun space for individuals on the spectrum to meet others and have fun. We provide a DJ, soda, and pizza. There is a $5 entry for each participant, but families and caregivers are free.
  • Spectrum Social Online: Online zoom meeting where adults on the spectrum ages 18+ can talk with other individuals on the spectrum about common interests and get to know each other.
  • Family Pool Party: Offered every 2nd Saturday of the month, Our Pool Parties are offered to all ages, making it great for families to attend. Held at Aquapros Swim School in Kearney Mesa, entry is free but a $5 donation is appreciated to help with food and drink costs.

Support Groups

  • Girl Power: A safe space for autistic women 18 and over to come together to share their experiences, receive support, and make connections. Open to all adult women with autism as well as any support people that you require to participate successfully.
  • Coffee Talk: Sit... Chat... Relax. An opportunity to meet up with others facing similar life issues in a comfortable, relaxing environment. Meets monthly at Panera Bread in Carlsbad.
  • Thirsty Thursdays: Online and open to all members of the community interested in improving the lives of those affected by autism. The demographic includes all ages, home & out-of-home placements, and all “levels of functioning”. There’s a wealth of information to be shared and you will be welcomed regardless of where you are on this journey.
  • Grupo de Apoyo en Español: Grupo de padres y familiares con niños con Autismo. Nos reunimos cada segundo Lunes del mes. Por favor de registrarse en el la pagina web de Meetup de Autism Society San Diego y busquen el Grupo De Apoyo cada mes. Vengan a compartir información, apoyo y amistad.
